If you have a question about our boating holidays and short breaks we may have answered it here. If you can’t find the answer to your question just email us or give us a call.
Can I come and see the boats?
You are very welcome to visit us at all times during our opening hours. However please consider that our boats may not be at the base during the height of the cruising season so a telephone call to check may save a wasted journey.
What's included in the price?
Your holiday price includes the following:
- ONE full tank of fuel
- Calor gas
- Ability to bring 2 pets (further pets are chargable)
Should you wish to add extra fuel when on your holiday or have your toilet tank pumped out, these are at your own expense.
Should I book my canal holiday early?
By booking your canal holiday early you stand a greater chance of getting the boat you want during the dates you want. We usually have a special offer running for those people that want to book for the following year and so you’ll save money as well.
Will I be charged for using a credit card?
No, we don’t believe in adding extra charges when you pay by credit card.
Can I pay a deposit?
You pay a 25% deposit when you book and your balance is due 6 weeks before your holiday starts. If you book within 6 weeks of your holiday start date you’ll have to pay for your boat in full.
Do I need holiday insurance?
As with any holiday, you should purchase your own holiday insurance. We strongly recommend purchasing holiday insurance which includes cancellation insurance as, if you cancel and we cannot re-let the boat, you will be responsible for the balance of the holiday and no refunds will be made. Personal holiday insurance can be found by searching many of the price comparison websites.
Do you give tuition?
At Claymoore we believe in giving you the best instruction in the equipment and handling of your boat so that your holiday is as enjoyable as possible. When you are ready to leave, a member of our team will travel a short way with you to instruct you on the control of your boat, the working of locks and some canal etiquette. When you feel comfortable, we step off to allow you the freedom to discover the waterways.
Will my children be safe?
As we have many families who hire our boats we can give you lots of advice when you arrive. We provide life jackets for all ages which are free on request.
What clothes should I bring?
Storage space is limited on the boats so suitcases are not recommended. Depending on the time of the year will determine whether you bring just summer clothing or something for the cooler days. Don’t forget some rain wear (a set of waterproofs is supplied for the driver). Non slip foot ware is recommended as you will be stepping off the boat to work locks and visit pubs and shops.
Are pets allowed?
We are pleased to allow your cat, dog or other small pet on board, except for on Ruby Tuesday. If you wish to bring more than 2 pets there is a £30 charge to cover the cost of the extra cleaning involved. We also ask that you keep pets off the upholstery and bedding.
Is there somewhere to park the car?
Yes, we have outdoor parking space at our base. Please remember that parking is at the owners risk and is free of charge.
When should I pay my balance?
Your balance is due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday.
What size are the beds?
Because a narrowboat is only 6′ 10″ wide (externally), the beds are normally narrower than at home. A double bed is typically 4′ wide with a single being approximately 2′ wide. Due to the lean of the cabin walls, any top bunk will be slightly narrower again.
